Sergey Reynov

Sergey Reynov is a trading and capital markets professional with over 20 years of international global markets and wealth management experience. His career blends disciplined execution, entrepreneurial build-out, and a deep embrace of technology. “What attracted me to trading was the combination of discipline, intellectual challenge, and human connection,” he says. “I was motivated by the ability to generate and implement ideas with tangible results in a short period of time, while working in a highly technological, dynamic environment.”
His inspiration to pursue capital markets was as much about people as it was about price action. “Trading is one of the few areas in finance where commercial results are closely and transparently linked to performance: if you deliver strong results, more capital and responsibility are allocated to you,” Sergey says. “That clear feedback loop rewards discipline, skill, and creativity with measurable outcomes. It instills accountability and ownership—qualities I value highly.”
From his earliest days, Sergey viewed markets through a practical lens—cause, effect, opportunity. “Sales and trading forces you to interpret facts not just as headlines, but through a practical lens of cause, effect, and opportunity,” he explains. “A trader constantly analyzes information, develops a personal view, and translates it into an actionable idea.” The pace and perishability of those ideas forged habits that now define his professional identity: discipline, speed, and attention to detail. “Because markets are dynamic and short-lived, ideas often have a very limited window of relevance. That environment never becomes routine—every day brings new challenges—and it shapes you to be resilient, adaptable, and focused under pressure.”
Over more than 20 years in global markets and wealth management, Sergey has built a cross-asset skill set and an international perspective. He began his finance journey in fixed income trading at Garanti Bank then deepened his expertise at BCP (in Geneva), where he progressed from FX and STIR trader to Senior FX and IR Sales Trader and Head of Marketing and Sales. In 2013 he joined Sberbank (Switzerland), serving as Senior FX and IR Trader for six years before becoming Head of Global Markets Trading.
A defining chapter in Sergey’s career was building a trading desk from the ground up. “It went far beyond pure trading—it required designing and implementing the full front-to-back process, ensuring regulatory and compliance standards were met, and building robust reporting and risk frameworks,” he recalls. “It was a holistic exercise: not only executing trades and generating P&L but also creating the infrastructure and processes to support long-term success.” The experience sharpened his view of how strategy, regulation, technology, and execution intersect to deliver results.
This perspective was further deepened during his tenure at Credit Suisse in Zurich, where he served as Senior Investment Consultant within the international wealth management area servicing the clients across CEE and Israel. The blend of execution, sales, and advisory reinforced his conviction that long-term success in trading lies in uniting market expertise with disciplined process, client trust, and a strong regulatory framework.
Today, Sergey is the Founder and CEO of Reynov Financial Solutions, an independent advisory firm he established in April 2025. Day to day, what fulfills him most is the loop from idea to outcome. “The most fulfilling aspect of trading is the ability to generate ideas, execute them, and see results quickly—while maintaining discipline in decision-making,” he says. The mix of rapid market change, advancing tools, and human relationships keeps him engaged. “The constant market change, combined with technology and client interaction, makes the role intellectually stimulating, dynamic, and never routine.”
Sergey has watched the profession evolve from manual execution to data-driven decisioning and systems integration. “Automation, algorithmic execution, and electronic platforms have shifted the focus from manual execution to data-driven decision-making and system integration,” he notes. Sales, too, has matured. “Sales has become more consultative: clients want value-added insights, tailored solutions, and seamless digital interaction.”
Looking ahead, he expects technology to be even more embedded. “I expect stronger integration of AI, big data analytics, blockchain, and DeFi into trading and client servicing. At the same time, fundamentals remain unchanged: discipline, creativity in generating ideas, risk management, and building trustful relationships will continue to define success. The most effective professionals will combine strong human judgment with advanced technological tools. Integrity and resilience will always remain fundamental for long-term success in credit and capital markets.”
His advice to aspiring professionals centers on timeless traits and modern tools. “Embrace both timeless skills—discipline, curiosity, resilience—and the evolving demands of technology,” he says. “Analytical strength and adaptability to new technologies (AI, data, automation) are critical today – they are now essential to generate alpha and serve clients effectively, so continuous learning and adaptability are key.”
